Overview
An established consumer retailer sought to accelerate growth and strengthen the commercial return from its investment in brand, marketing and digital retail.
Brand Clarity® was appointed in a fractional leadership capacity to lead the marketing function and undertake independent review and due diligence across the business, providing clear recommendations and leadership on priority actions to support near term growth while protecting brand equity and business continuity.
The Challenge
The business had significant brand equity, with an opportunity to create greater integration across marketing, customer experience and commercial performance. The challenge was to identify where greater value could be created, strengthen customer experience, and redirect investment towards measurable revenue growth and ambitious market expansion plans.
Our Role
Brand Clarity® provided fractional leadership across a phased transformation, beginning with an independent review of the business and presentation of findings and recommendations to the leadership team. Priorities were then addressed iteratively, with early focus on agency and supplier due diligence and consolidation, strengthening existing foundations and addressing capability gaps before building the organisational and commercial capacity required for growth and scale.
Strategic Approach
Brand Clarity® used the initial review to establish an evidence base for decision-making, then sequenced priorities according to commercial impact, implementation complexity and the need to protect existing brand and business value.
The approach focused first on strengthening the foundations and addressing capability gaps before redirecting resources into higher value opportunities, including new routes to market and future international growth opportunities. This allowed the transformation to build progressively while maintaining business continuity and creating greater capacity for growth.
Impact and Outcomes
The engagement translated a streamlined operating model and sharper brand strategy into measurable commercial growth.
It:
doubled revenue across the product portfolio within the first quarter and tripled digital conversion rate
expanded distribution through two major national retailers, strengthening market reach
reduced operating costs and released budget capacity for reinvestment in higher value growth opportunities
strengthened brand differentiation by developing the purpose proposition and enhancing existing supply chain integrity and sustainability credentials into the commercial narrative
improved governance through reduced contractual, supplier, operational and reputational risk.
identified and progressed new strategic opportunities to support future international expansion
The outcomes demonstrated how brand strategy, customer experience and operating model optimisation can work together to accelerate revenue, improve investment efficiency and expand market reach.
Conclusion
The engagement combined independent commercial perspective with embedded fractional leadership during a period of significant change. Working across the organisation, we provided continuity from assessment through decision making and implementation, helping leadership make clear choices about where to focus, invest and pursue growth.
